St. George’s School Triumphs in Thrilling Away Match Against Begimidir Academy!
At SGS, the football team had been training every afternoon after school. Coach Melkamu, a fantastic and encouraging figure, instilled a strong sense of discipline and teamwork in the players, preparing them for their upcoming match against Begimidir Academy. He had meticulously organised Team SGS for this important away game.
On the day of the match, the students arrived early, proudly wearing their blue SGS shirts, while Begimidir Academy’s team stood out in their yellow kits.
From the very start, the game was fast-paced and intense. Both teams played with determination, their feet kicking up dust as the ball passed swiftly between players. With every move, the crowd roared louder, and the tension grew thicker. SGS supporters cheered their team on, while Begimidir’s fans responded with equal enthusiasm.
With a sudden burst of speed, Amanuel, the SGS captain, sprinted forward, his teammates rallying behind him. He feinted left, then right, throwing the defenders off balance. In one smooth motion, he struck the ball with all his might, sending it soaring towards the net.
But Begimidir Academy was not ready to concede defeat. They responded with fire, launching a counterattack. Their striker, Samir, was quick and skilful, weaving past SGS defenders with ease. However, SGS’s defence stood firm, blocking every attempt with determination to keep the ball from crossing their goal line.
After a hard-fought battle, the final whistle blew—SGS had secured a 1-0 victory!
As they shook hands with their opponents, smiles of mutual respect were exchanged. Though they were rivals on the pitch, both teams knew they had given it their all. As the crowd began to disperse, the students of SGS erupted into chants and cheers, celebrating their well-earned win. On their journey home, they were already looking forward to the rematch against Begimidir Academy in April. But for now, they were champions.
